Do you have the engine number? Could be a cub engine, C70...
When work calms down (I work from home), I'll nip in the garage and get the number, thanks

Ok, well and truly back from vacation (and burnt in corfu)....

Undercoated, rubbed down, sprayed, rubbed down, and sprayed again and voila

I guess in the USA I would be called a "rattle-can artist"..

The colour is not as dark as the pictures show, its Hawiian Metallic Blue (also called ford Gemini Blue), was lucky to find 2 people selling 2 cans each on Fleabay, so I got them all.

Hi Graham
Thats looking 100% better mate, I hope you are going to laquer it now ? a little tip for you (and others) if you dont already know.
When you are using rattle cans just pop the can in a jug of hand warm water for 5 mins prior to painting, this makes the contents more fluid, as they are prone to being a bit thick when cold, this is when you get spitting & blobs.
With the paint / laquer more fluid you get a nice even coat, but dont over do it with the laquer as it has a tendancy to run, just build up the coats slowly.
For obvious reasons dont have the water boiling as the obvious WILL happen & you will end up going to work looking like a Smurf (if your painting blue :o )
If it is really cold you can warm up the work piece with a hot air gun / hairdryer, this method has worked well in the past for me, hope this is of help to anyone.
Cheers
Phil.

Sorry for the lack of responce, I was busy with my other project (CD200 rebuild), however last weekend I "attempted" to fit the front end back on, oh dear ever felt a wally?

Having carefully re-greesed all the ball barings for the top and bottom race, I carefully slid the yoke into place, and hit a problem (dont laugh).

Hmm I thought how the heck did I ever get the thing apart with this pip in place, maybe it springs in, or I'm not doing it right.

I tried pushing it in, no luck (perhaps its corroded?), nothing I did would budge it, and putting the nut back on was impossible, oh crap.

Then I looked with a magnafying glass, and hey hum, its splatter from when I had the bracket welded on, ever felt a complete and utter wally?
Had to get the dremel out and cut it out of the thread without damaging it, FUN. any way the front is now back on (pics this weekend).

Well done!
I guess you like creating extra work, hu?
You could have sourced for a tap to retap the thread, but it's nice to hear you solved this little problem.
Keep up!

Just a quick update.

Been busy rebuilding a CD175 (http://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=233806), but I have aquired some more parts for the Chaly, inlcuding a complete front braket, including headlight, speedo, and indicators, and a rear chrome rack.
I've also moved from the garage over the road that is collapsing into a pond, into the number 2 garage that I converted to a bedroom for my eldest, and now she has moved back into the house, so I now have a double glazed, fully insulated garage, WAHAY.....

Hi
That headlight bracket allows you to fit a basket on the front of your CF and is the Japanese or late euro front light.
