Hello Waynus,
Guess you could say it was a cheap and cheerful sprocket, but it has done 5500 miles :( :( I've just had delivered my new Talon sprocket, but have yet to fit it, to be honest, I seem to have lost a bit of interest at the mo, and my hearts not really in it, what with the electrics and all.
I thought I had it once but, when I turned on the indicators they all came on together, what a bummer :?

I know Tufty and his butler are doing his bike, and he keeps threatening to post some pictures..................but alas they must be taking pictures of themselves!!!

Hello Peeps,

Got my new Talon sprocket and chain, so I might do one of many jobs that need doing this weekend. Sort out the "Orange peril", change the sprocket and chain, sort out the valve clearances, change the leaking oil feed pipe, change the oil, and give her a clean. Then look at the "Lardy Dax" with fresh eyes and see if I can't do that bloody wiring, after all they're only wires :?

Might even get to look at trying to start the "Lady Dax", as she hasn't even been looked at since she's been bought :(

Anyway all the best Si

Hello Peeps

Finally sorted out my backfiring problem after first, resetting my valve clearances, changing a weeping oil feed pipe, giving her a full, long overdue oil change and a general spruce up. And the problem after all this time, was discovered by matching the burn hole in my new jeans, to a hole were the captive nut for the heat shield should have been. :( :( ..............................It was this all along :? I drilled the hole out to about 4mm and inserted a stainless steel pop rivet, hey presto no more back firing and no more holes in my jeans :D

Took her out on Sunday and she went like the clappers....................but then I got a puncture on my rear wheel, it never rains but it pours :( Oh well I've got to change the sprocket anyway, so I might as well do both jobs at once.

Old vehicles and young women both cost money and never stop complaining.

Hello Peeps,
Blimey, doesn't time fly when you're having fun, I should rename this thread "New Spring Project" the amount of time its taken :? But guess what........................It looks like
I've finally sorted out the wiring :D :D :D
The indicator saga turned out to be two things. The flasher unit had shorted out internally and wasn't flashing, and the indicator repeater lamp in the speedo needed to be taken out, as I didnt realise that if you run LED indicators then this lamp acts as a bridge between the two circuits, thus making them all flash together. :( :( Apparently for the MOT, if you can see the indicators working when you're riding then you don't need the pilot lamp in the speedo.

Anyway you'll be pleased to know I've now got my mojo back and I wont stop until the "Lardy Dax" is fired up. Shouldn't be long now ;)

Hello all,

Well i've finally got my "Lardy Dax" on the road, and by god is she powerful   After spending months of toil and sometimes heartache she has now been set free,.............but wait a minute. After riding her for approximately 4 miles and doing about 30 mph (luckily) my rear tyre blew out AGAIN and put me into a wobble I couldn't control. Net result, I was thrown across the road landing on my shoulder. This untimely dismount has resulted in a broken collar bone and unknown damage to my bike
Left Broken Collar Bone.jpg If you were trying to travel on the Southend bound A127 at about 3o/clock yesterday afternoon then i'm afraid it was me that caused all that traffic!

My bike is being kept in someones house near to where the accident happened so I've got to arrange collection at some point soon, then I can assess the damage. It was almost a year to the day that my leg was broken on my "Orange peril"
It might be time to give up riding, and take up cake making and sugar craft. Knowing my luck i'd probably burn myself with the sugar ;)
As soon as I get her back, i'll let you know.
All the best Si
