Hello Waynus,

Just had a word with Adrian at OO Racing and he said that my particular brake caliper needs to be removed from the bracket and inverted, then bled. This type of brake caliper seems to collect air at the top and are a bugger to remove.

I'll look at it tonight and give you my feedback

Hello peeps, its only me!

Haven't posted for a while :? Finally............. i've managed to sort out my long standing problems with the rear brake caliper, I just couldn't get the air out of the bugger.
I went down the route of replacing almost everything, only to be told that the air gets trapped at the highest point and unless the caliper is removed and tipped upside down,
then it will never get bled properly

When you think about it its bloody obvious, but is obvious........... I didn't think about it

Anyway I purchased a new brake bleed kit which works on air pressure from a tyre to force the fluid via a reservoir through to the brake system. I had to adapt a cap for my brake bottle, but once this was done it only took about 30 seconds and the brakes were fully bled and as hard as a rock :D

My next quest was an MOT. SHE FAILED on a small oil leak on the front fork (think i've overfilled them) and my number plate was to small (forgot to take my "big" one with me) Apart from that all O.K including the brakes which work perfectly!!

My bikes being looked at by Cliff of TWR, a honda specialist working from the Potters Bar area. My god, his workshop is like a operating theater!! Anyway shes having a bit of open heart surgery at the mo. I'll let you know how I got on.

Congratulations on passing the MOT!!!!
Glad to hear you managed to sort out the problem - obvious indeed, but didn't cross my mind at all.

Waynus, its always the way, you spend no time at all making or fabricating items that should take forever, and spend ages on small tasks that should take no time at all :? :? :?

Where's the fairness?

Still haven't heard back from Cliff yet, but it is a little premature at the mo. I was getting a small noise from the new engine and didn't want to tempt fate, so he's conducting a series of tests to hopefully evaluate the problem. It should be ready for the annual "Monkey bike run" at the Ace Cafe.............fingers crossed

I want to try and post some "video" clips but unsure as yet on how to do it. I'll find out and get some up.

Hello Peeps,

Its been ages since i've posted and to be quite honest its been a very very slow year for me what with one thing and another Dax related. The last time I posted I was still having problems with the "Lardy Dax". To cut a long story short I needed to change the rear end and go for a more conventional look as the fat rear was causeing no end of problems, broken drive shafts. shattered wheel bearings, you name it, i've had it.................ahhh the joys of extreme custom.

Your rear end does seem to take up a lot of your time
Please post a pic of your new rear end or maybe not
