Love this bike. Sorry to hear it spat you off :(
I had a rear inner tube blow out on my Fake Dax last year. Fortunately I managed to keep the bike up and stop, but it scared the life out of me. The car behind slammed their brakes on as I think they were expecting me to come off lol. That was a long walk home that night.

BTW, incase you haven't found out and/or I've missed it in your thread, there should be a thick rubber grommet in that bracket on your frame. I think it's there to keep the seat in position when you lock it down.

Thanks Cosmic Wizard,
Buy the looks of things I might be up against some competition :) :) Thanks for the seat explanation, just need to get a grommet now. Tufty says you might be from the Essex area, where abouts?

Good to see another one on the road ;)

No worries :)

There are a few parts on my old Jincheng that I took pictures of because I'd previously restored my mates Lady Dax and there were some parts I knew we needed to get, but couldn't find out where to get them. BTW, I used a new frame so we could restore his original at our leisure - it's still not done

Here's a pic of the grommet:

I'm not from Essex I'm afraid. I'm based in SE London ;)

Although I restored my mate's Lady Dax, this is the first proper resto I've done for myself. Normally I just stick to a renovation or recommissioning on a bike. I'm amazed at just how many things you can easily forget about or not budget for. It's all my Chaly's fault lol

Cheers

Hello Jim,

Thanks for posting that photo, it's exactly what 've been looking for. I didn't know what went in there, because it was never there from the start. Now i've just got to try and source one :(

Hello peeps,

Its been a while since I posted last, so I thought I'd bring you up to speed on the bike situation.

Firstly, my 160cc Orange peril is now off the road and SORN, due to the fact that the starter shaft has sheared and I know i've got to strip the engine to repair it  Has anybody done this and how easy is it, and do you know whether a YX 140cc kick start shaft will fit a YX 160cc, as I seem to have a spare one of those?

Secondly, I managed to get the Lady Dax started, with thanks to Tufty for supplying me with a spare 6v Carb. After cleaning out 20 years worth of hardened petrol and general crap from the tank, replacing fuel lines and a new HT cap, I kicked her over a few times and she spluttered to life. I must say, I was like an expectant father all over again, I was all excited that she actually went :P I have now got to try and remove the broken exhaust collar that has been left in the barrel Thats not going to be and easy job, i'm thinking lots of heat and wd40

And Finally, The "Lardy Dax". I got to the bottom of why she spat me off and how the wheel went down. The valve had ripped away from the inner tube, and not burst due to over inflation as first thought. This apparently does sometimes happen depending on the make of tube. I have ordered a straight valve mini inner tube and a bent valve Continental tube,
hopefully one of these will do the job.
DSCF4941.JPG I've also installed a separate lighting switch, to turn of the headlights as i've only got them switched via the ignition key. And i've also been playing with some carbon fibre wrap. Stuck some on the front mudguard, lightswitch, and rear light tail tidy, and I must say, i'm quite pleased with the results. I'm just waiting for my new rear wheel to turn up, then I can get her MOT'd and then hopefully try and ride her again. ;) ;) ;)

Hello Peeps,

I've been trying to bleed my rear brakes..........it shouldn't be this bloody hard :? :? No matter what I do the pedal still stays soft. I must have put a bottle had a half of brake fluid through the system, i've changed the banjo bolts and washers, the bleed nipple, the master cylinder and the brake hose. The only thing I haven't changed is the Caliper. Could it be the Caliper?
Any one had this problem?

Went to insure my 190cc bike today and was shocked at the out come. The annual cost is £106 which i thought was O.K but......................The compulsory excess was £945!!

There excuse was that most riders of Chinese bikes are learner riders and get involved in most of the accidents.  So needless to say i'm on the look out for cheap insurance. and before you all say, you can talk you've had two accidents in the last year...........I know, but I didn't claim on any of them!!

There seems to be a Monkey bike meet at the Ace Cafe this week, think its Sunday, have a look on there website.

Any way all the best Si

mmm... it can be hard to correctly bleed a (Chinese?) brake system.
You don't have any tools to suck the brake fluid out?
No signs of leakage anywhere?
Maybe you have got a spare brake lever to check if it's any better?
