New winter projects.
Hi all,
I seem to have got myself another two "Dax's" or should that be "Daxi", who knows? :( :( :( The first one is a 2008 190cc Daytona Anima engined, Lifan. O.k, O.k I know its not a "Proper" Dax, but hear me out. I bought this bike as a doner for my new winter project :(
The second bike is a very, very, very, rare 1977 "Lady Dax". Its a completely original example complete with the original seat!! no pictures as yet as I will be picking her up tomorrow. I will post some pics soon.
Back to my latest project, I will be making......................Wait for it......................................A "fat boy Dax".
For this I have purchased a 5.5 L frame and had it all seem welded, (sorry no photos of this as I was to impatient and got it into the powdercoaters) The colour scheme this year will be pure white. :)
The rear end will house a Kepspeed aluminium swing arm and disk brake conversion, complete with a 5.5 inch rear wheel c/w a 150 x 80 x 10 tyre!!!!!
The front end will have a wide glide 45mm upside down hydraulic suspension, with a 3.5 inch wheel c/w a 130 x 70 x 10 tyre.
The engine is the acclaimed, 4 valve 190cc Daytona Anima F engine, that has been port and polished to give this beast a 26/28 bhp :o :o. I've also bought a stack of new underpants and some new thick soled boots!!!!!!!!!!!! :? SAM_0049.JPG SAM_0057.JPG SAM_0059.JPG I'll post more soon.
All the best Si

Hi all,
Just thought I'd show you the difference in Tyre sizes against a standard Dax.

The tyre on the left is a 130x70x10, and the monster on the right is a 150x80x10, now you know how fat the "fat boy Dax" will be

Hello Blue,
For one minute then, I thought you were becoming very familiar especially about my new underpants :( :( :(
This new bike for me has some challenges ahead, and to be honest, I can't wait!! the frames in the powdercoaters at the mo, and should be back with me before Christmas.

I'll keep you all posted.

All the best, and merry Christmas to you all

Simon, hopefully your not disappointed, I'll leave the familiarity to the monkeys on the dark side

I'm curious what you mean about seam welded though?
I'm assuming your talking about the frame?

Hello Blue,

I purchased a Skyteam 5.5L frame, this frame although bigger and heavier is only spot welded in certain areas. My main area of concern was the "wheel arch" at the rear end. The panel where the rear mudguard bolts onto, it's only spot welded. Because of the bigger engine and a lot more horses, I thought it would be prudent to have that part seam welded for extra strength, call me over cautious, but believe me that engine is bloody powerful

Better to get it all sorted before it's coated!!!

Hi all,
Just a quick up date to the winter project :) Just picked up my newly powder coated frame, and I must say it looks lovely.

Blue, I've tried to show the seem welded area that I mentioned in the last post, but the pictures are not that clear.

Yes, the colour scheme is a bit boring, but watch this space, I have plans ;) ;)

Hi all, and a very merry Christmas.

I hope Santa brought you all things Dax that you wanted :D :D, Obviously things have been slow in my "grotto", but I have managed to get out there for a few hours, just before Christmas day :o

I've loosely fitted all the major parts back, and sorted out the tank and wiring. Made a school boy error and fitted the front fork legs back to front, so the disk had changed sides!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :?

Here's the latest pic.

All the best Si
