Welcome Ed China!
Just a caution: Loosen up but do not remove the nuts, as the rims might go flying! (and hit your bad leg :) )

Thanks for the advise Dr waynus, but whats another bolt in my leg between friends :D :D

Hoping to get out on my brute tomorrow  ..............although kick starting it will be fun......knew I should have gone down the electric start route

I've changed my gearing for 17t front and 28t rear I'm hoping that this gives me longer legs top end....any advise would be good.

Oh and I've never seen one of those horns before.........you live and learn ;)

Funny you should say that Chief..............I was stationary at the time

After all the teething problems I've had..........I finally took the orange peril out for a spin, and wow does she go :o

The sprocket set up seems now, to be spot on for my needs, less agressive pull away and better top end. It was well worth the wait.

The rear disc brake still needs a little tweak, (it needs a stiffer linkage made) this is next on my list! The other thing I need to look at is the headlight lamp.
I want to go LED, has anybody converted to this successfully and if so how?

Didn't realize that mate, very unfortunate and not a lot you can do about that I guess!!!! :(
I expect you're happy you have the max from you're front anchor, cause having a sharp rear brake will mean you will probably lock it up if you' hit it in anger' so to speak. (ABS next maybe ?) or just keep the mechanical advantage(leverage) low on the linkage perhaps
Most certainly looking the business though :)

Hello Dave,

Funny you should mention ABS, has anybody fitted such an item, or have you seen the in-line ABS valve that can be bought from fleabay :?:

Trying to fit a full blown ABS system would be a challenge, and I know a man thats looking at doing just that. Sensor pick up on the disk, and an ECU.

Personally I think this would be a bit of a pain, but get it right and it would be a nice addition to those high powered bikes.

The in-line valve option looks easier, and is placed between the caliper and the brake line. Although this is not a true ABS system, (I think its some sort of pressure relief valve) at around £12.00 a piece, it might be worth a little look at. ;) ;)

Any thoughts

Hi Si, At £12 I would think that is a pressure limiting valve, which is probably all that's required really, a full blown DIY ABS set up is a bit unnecessary I would say, keeping things simple is usually the best option in my experience.
Out of curiosity what output/performance is your little beast anyway ?

Hello Dave,
My little beast is a 160cc, not to sure of the BHP, but shes got 80mph on the speedo and it goes off the clock for short spurts anyway :o
I will hopefully be asking OORacing to dyno test and set her up for me, as shes still a pig to start..........even with a decomp kit :? :?

I've finally got the rear brake linkage sorted out, and she now stops on a sixpence :D New linkage.JPG All the best Si

Now that does sound exhilarating .........and a tad scary on 10" rims I should think
I expect the best buzz will be blowing off motorists who think your on some type of moped!!!

The brake linkage looks neat and effective(I appreciate why you've fitted a rear disk now!)

OO racing 'll sort you out OK....Don't forget your wallet though!!!!!!! ;)

Dave

Finally today I managed to complete all of the niggles on Rusty, the front mudguard was fun but nothing my angle grinder could not cope with.
She's now ready for a new dress (Paint) :o
As there are so many "Rare" Lady's out there and mine is so not original I'm not going to paint her white, I'd never match the colour, the patina or get the right stickers.
I just hope the colour combination I've gone for works, this is the last time she will be seen in her old white dress,,,,
ST70_PrePaint.JPG Excited she was ready for paint, I got out the spanners; 45 minutes later I had a box of bits and got her in the back of my car!
Proof you can get an ST in the back of a Mini!
Mini_Bike.JPG Dropped her off at the painters and came home, itching to make progress I did my usual, started working on another project
As there was space in my shed I pulled the cover of my Z50a and decided to fit the front disk brake and other stuff that's been sat in box's for a few months.
Z50_test_fit front _end.JPG I think my daughter has her eyes on this bike, luckily she won't be old enough to ride it on the road for a few years.
Should give me enough time to finish it :)

Nice one blue, should be ready for summer then? :)

What colour will the "dress" be, or are you keeping it under wraps? 8-)

Is it me, or does your daughter look very small, or is you monkey bike very big?

Glad you've finally got the bug to do up "Old Rusty", keep us all updated with its progress.
