Hi Tufty,
The Bike looks fantastic. it's amazing what restoring a bike can do to your health - it's really brought out the kid in you :D :D .
The sun has finally decided to grace us with it's rays so you can go out on her now. Mind you, you will have to be quick or Shorrocks will be out on it and it will come back Tango'd   .

Sorry for the late reply...
Simply put: to get a different (often more sport orientated) riding position.
Sometimes to reduce weight, to change the distance between gear / rear brake lever and foot pegs or... just some optical tuning.

I'm off on a motorbike trip in France now. See you all next week!

Its been far too long since I've had anytime to work on Rusty, as Ive been off this week I thought I would try to catch up.
The frame came back from powdercoating a few weeks ago and has sat in my dining room much to the dismay of my wife.
I really like the colour and cant wait to get it fully assembled.
IMG_0459_SMALL.JPG Its difficult to see the true colour in these pictures, when its outside in the daylight it looks different.
At least I was able to find a camera that took colour pictures
Im sure some of you will be alarmed at the colour, but just think it now makes your Ladys even rarer as theres one less white bike out there!
IMG_0468_Small.JPG I thought I would get the stickers on it and start on the remaing bits that need painting, I really under estimated the work involved!
IMG_0475_SMAll.JPG I actually think its harder to prepare the small bits as they are very fiddly.
IMG_0578small.JPG But hopefully worth the effort, just a few last bits to prime and prepare ready for colour :D

Hi Si,
It's a RAL colour 6033 mint turquoise, I wanted to go for an old 70's pastel colour.
It was the closet colour I could find that matched the inner colour of the letters on the Honda main frame sticker of my Lady Dax. I'm not sure if my stickers were faded but it looks very similar.
I've got black rims and was planning on doing the mudguard in satin black.
Hopefully it will contrast well.

I'm not able to get near the bike until Saturday, so I doubt I'll be going to the show in Essex with it, which is disappointing but hey what can you do. I'm aim to work on it next weekend, maybe get it rolling :D
Cheers,

Blue

Very nice Blue, I was toying around with pastel shades before the orange glitter :D :D

Its looking really nice  Shame about the show next week, but it looks like its the same "old" faces proping up the Essex contingent of the dax and Very Very rare Lady Dax club. :(

Re: So "What did you do to your bike today?"
I find it hard to believe that I've not done anything constructive on my bike for quite a few months, but those of you that know me most likely won't :D

As the sun was shining today I managed to get outside to my cold shed and spend some time with Rusty.
No pictures as I spent most of the day cleaning up and planning.

I attempted to clean the rust off the cylinder barrel with my dremel so I could paint it, even though Its only been used once it decided to go up in smoke, I think the motor has burnt out, dremels are poo,,,,
I guess the engine detailing will have to wait.

I needed to make some progress and started bolting a few other bits on. Picked up a chrome brake securing anchor the other day so I put that on. All that's done is highlight how rough all the rear bolts, brake items and chain adjusters are.
So, I got my chemistry head on and started on my electrolysis set up.

I know you can replace these bits but why should I when I can refurbish what I have.
It's very cheap to set up if you have a battery charger, I'll put a guide up at some point if anyone is interested.
Cleaned a few bolts, and they look great, not sure what they will look like in a month or so but they look much better.
Maybe I need to plate them, DIY plating setup next.

Hope the weathers good Sunday as today it was nice to see Rusty :D

I'm determined to get at least one of my bikes on the road in the next few months

Hi Blue
I hope you and your family are all well,
It is really difficult to get motivated this time of year but looking forward to the long sunny days soon to come helps.
I am interested in your chemistry set so post some pics soon and of the results, I have just finished fitting alloy rims and an extended swing arm and I also replaced the chromed fuel tank and battery cover with some bright yellow after market parts on my new monkey and will shortly be stripping down my chaly for paint and chrome.
I can't wait to see all the work that members have been doing so keep sending in the pics.
Regards Tufty
