HI BLUE
It looks like you are crossing over to the DARK SIDE with your Z50A. Is it a K2 ?? Hopefully you will have learnt from Simons colour transgression and realised that Bright is not always Beautiful apart from the visual impact the boys in blue can't miss it or mistake it.And what colour will the Minitrail be ?????????

Hello Tufty,

Pity the van driver couldn't see me as well

You must be close to getting a few photos of your creations up on the site, or now you have gone to the dark side with you mini trail, are we all not worthy enough? :D

Just do me a favor, don't take a picture of the blue and purple one together, It'll look like one big Dax bruise, but less shiney ;) ;)

All the best Si

@shorrocks - They said ten days for the paint, I trying to get prepared so I can put he back together straight away, so hopefully she will be ready for summer if it ever turns up!
As for the colour wait and see :D , I just hope it comes out as expected.
The monkey is tiny, when the ST is back I take a picture of them together to give you an idea of size.

@Tufty, I've always been on the Darkside :D
The z50a is in fact a k2, but it has a k1 tank on it as I prefer the round tank badges over the oval ones.
As for colour, I'm not even thinking about it until I have the bike running and all the mechanicals sorted.
Currently having tire clearance issues with the rear mudguard, the only way I can get it to fit is if I pull the wheel all the way back, that's no good as I won't be able to adjust the chain.
Guess that's what happens when you try to squeeze 10" rims on a z50a.
What's happened to your winter projects, You were going to show us some pictures?
Have you got a Mini Trail hiding somewhere :D

Cheers

Hi
Yes I will post some pictures of one of my winter projects but the colour was chosen by Mr Honda, who I must say had better taste than a certain failed stunt rider from Basildon and yes I did say STUNT.
It is a Z50A USA K1 1969 MODEL
It is as near to original spec as the depth of my pockets allow considering my other winter projects Ha Ha more to come and just as pleasing to the eye.
I bought this as a project bike and completely stripped it every nut bolt and washer and located as many original parts that needed replacing fortunately it was not to many as original parts for these can be difficult to source.
Fortunately Shire Bikes have some parts and there are plenty of NOS parts available from the USA.
OK OK I suppose I should post some pics but knowing how critical some members can be about people crossing over to the dark side Oh what the hell here goes and just so I can stop any confusion it is not me sitting on the bike as anyone who knows will be quick to point out I could wear it as a pair of shorts
so with no further ado Oh beggar its raining and like a lot of members I won't take it out in the rain Wiseric but no the sun is just breaking thru so maybe one pic
I'm sorry about that the battery is flat on my camera
It'll keep until we raise some more money to keep the site going regards Tufty

Hi
So this is it I am coming out of the garage I am a secret Z50A fan but my first love is still the ST and when I get time another creation will grace this website
Enjoy
You may have noticed the plastic brake levers which are year correct but an MOT failure so there we are out of the garage and on to pastures new perhaps a ????????????
I must thank the previous rebuilder for the paintwork as I have not touched this just a total mechanical rebuild every nut bolt and washer but it is well worth it.

@Tufty,
That's raised the bar a bit!
It looks really good, I want to have a go too after Simon :D
Is that a tool box on the back? If so where did you get it, been after one myself but they seem hard to find.
Just missed out on one on fleebay the other day, it went for £46.
I'm going to inspect those bolts when I see them, I'm guessing there Honda's? :)

@waynus, I've always wondered what those backsteps are for?

Re: So "What did you do to your bike today?"
Went and picked up my bike today from the powdercoaters very very happy. :D
My wife says its a marmite colour, as it not brown I did not understand her.
Then it dawned on my "marmite you ether love it or hate it"
Guess she hates it

I really wanted to start with the reassembly so I spent a few hours trying to persuade the swing arm bushes back in.
Armed with some threaded rod, a few washers, some nuts and a spanner I managed to get them in.

After all that effort, I decide to take it easy and fit the frame stickers, it's amazing what putting a few stickers on a frame does to the look of it.

I'm going to build the front end up tommorrow, fit the swing arm and get the wheels on.
Still not sure if I should fit the original front end and springers as I got them painted too or fit the later hyrodlic type that I also have and had fitted,,,, more decisions :?

I was wondering what everyone puts on there threads as they reassemble, for some reason in my mind I have copper grease?
Also what grease do you use on your headstock bearings?

Cheers,

Blue
