Best Tyres

Hi,

Another question for you all (the first of many I imagine)! I am going to replace the tyres and tubes on the bike but am a bit unsure as to what I should get.

Sadly, the knobbly Bridgestone tyre has been discontinued (http://www.monkeybike.co.uk/acatalog/3_ ... T_Dax.html) so my options are quite limited.

I would prefer to order from Monkey Bike UK (used them before a few years back) so what would you recommend from this page: http://www.monkeybike.co.uk/acatalog/Tyres.html

I have seen semi-slicks in pictures before on ST/Dax's and wonder which from that page would be suitable? I would prefer to use tubes too.

Thanks in advance :)

The original Duro tyres are still available.

Best semi-slick tyres:
Michelin S1 (especially for dry roads) great durabilty and looks
Continental Zippy's
Me7teen

As for the size:
3,5 x 10 was the standard size.
130/70/10 rear and 110/80/10 are the largest (and most beautifull to me) you can fit on your bike without having to adjust something.

Thanks for the informative post. Are the Michelin tubeless?

I love the look of these: http://www.monkeybike.co.uk/acatalog/12 ... _Tyre.html

Can't seem to find the S1's you mention.

Yes, the Michelins are tubeless, but not on the standard Honda rims.
So I use them with a tube myself.

This is a Belgian shop.

You could look for the tires at a local car/motorbike tyre shop/garage.
They should be able to order all kinds of tyres of the brands they are selling.

Thanks for the info.

Seen some tyres I like the look of (see attachment). Do you know what type they are and where I could get them from?

Never knew choosing tyres would be so difficult!

These are the Continental Zippy's I was talking about.
Good tyres!
Yous hould be able to get these at every Continental dealer.
Take a look at their website to find out who's selling them near you.

Great - thanks!

Found them here - http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?d ... LoadRange=

I have used that company before (I buy my car tyres from them) and they work out to be a reasonable price.

Obviously I will need tubes to go with these, which tubes do you think will be best?

Thanks again! :)

Well, a good tube is a good tube.
I use Michelins mostly.
You only got to decide wether you want a straight or a bended air-valve.
None of both is better, it's just a matter of preference.
1 tube should cost you around 4£.

Awesome thanks for the info.

I have seen some Michelin tubes here which are suitable: http://www.monkeybike.co.uk/acatalog/3_ ... alve_.html

Not quite £4 though! My problem is that I prefer to order online as I don't live near a big city so everything requires a bit of a long drive to get anything!

Got a few bits I need to order this week. I have decided the order in which I am going to work on the bike (will make a new post outlining what I will do).

Thanks again :)
