Re: Dating of st70
Hi all, first time to post for me here and hello.
I also am helping a friend to sort out an old ST 70 which does not have any papers or registration plate and wondered how to go about getting it registered to use on the road. Unfortunately it has sat for a long time and the engine is frozen and everything needs attention. Has anyone else gone through this process and maybe can give me an idea where to start. The frame number on the headstock is hard to read but appears to start with AB? is this the correct place to look for the VIN number? regards FF

Hi FF, the frame number on my st70 is on the lefthand side of the bike on the gear change side just to the rear of the air filter tube and in front of the chain guard with the number ST70-14**** stamped on the frame, hope this is of some help

Hi ST70, thank you for reply, I have been looking at lots of pictures and the such like and also reading lots of old posts on here. I am now thinking it may be a ST50 but am not sure as there are no decals on it.I will try and add some pictures. regards FF

Hi FF, looks like it's well worth saving and with low mileage, the engine size should be marked on the top of the dark coloured part of the engine just below the carburetor on the left-hand side of the bike on the gear change side because that's were it is on mine

Hi FF, the engine number on the st70 engine is on the left hand side of the bike directly behind the gear peddle shaft with a square shaped line around it, the number is sometimes hard to see because it may be covered in oil or dirt but if you rub it with a piece of cloth you will be able to read it easily and it may have a number like ST70E-123***
