Hi all
Now the nights are drawing in it is time to plan winter projects so I would like to start by saying both my ST70,s have been hibernated for the next few months which has now given me the much needed space to start my ST50 build and the Chaly build which have been on hold I will post a few pic,s as I start the rebuilds and it would be good for others to do the same to compare notes and progress.

Hello Tufty,
Finally got my garage, and today i've been "sorting stuff" :? :? All i've got to do now, is repaint the floor in a fetching grey polyurethane paint, then get my motor bike lift made, then hey presto, I like you will be ready to embark upon the mother of all rebuilds.

All my shiny new parts have been delivered, including my brand new 160cc engine :D :D My biggest problem I have at the moment is what colour? :( I think I've got it down to three colours Candy Saphire blue, keep it the same and go for Candy Ruby Red, or something a little different, Candy Lime green shimmer..........Hmmm what is a man to do??

I too will be posting my rebuild just as soon as I start.

Should be a good Winter :D :D :D :D

Hey Simon,

When choosing metallic colours always check the content of the metal flake.

Its never a good idea to go too lightly with metal flake as people gazing upon the finished machine may miss the subtle flake and mistake it for dust.

see you all soon!!

Hello John

I've finally got to the bottom of the "sparkle saga" .................. ................. the sparkles underneath ;) ;) ;)

Poor old Tufty, his eyes are not what they once were............let's just keep telling him that it's nice and shiny and the old boy will be happy :D :D

O/K
I have now totally dismantled my winter project and collected most of the parts I will have to get a paper round to pay for the parts that need replacing especially rubber based parts which have fallen apart i.e. the swing arm bushes.
I intend to replace the steering bearings with tapers as I did on the purple one this makes it much easier to adjust and no balls to fall out, it was certainly entertaining stripping down the rear shocks which require rechroming and painting.
The box of parts going to the paint shop is getting heavier and the one for the chromers is getting scary.
I use the same powder coater as Shorrocks but the sprayer will not tell me what colour Si's chosen for his project I hope its not the same essex girl pink with a sprinkling of fairy dust as mine.(forgot the matching white leather accessories)
I will post some pic's shortly to keep you up to date with my lack of progress

Re: Winter Projects
HI
Progress is being made took the parts to the powder coaters today who gave me the good news that the cellulose had been sprayed over a layer of powder coating the job will now take longer and cost more fortunately it was the main frame only.
The other parts were the rear shock covers, chain guard and swing arm in metallic blue the front fork tops were in grey primer and the front hub assy and rear hub assy were in silver.
Quite the colour mix but as the parts have been gained from various sources including Ebay and Shorrocks also the donor bike for my project purple bike, now I just hope the colour I have chosen won't clash.
p.s only 2 weeks to wait
Regards Tufty
P.P.S now to sort out the chroming any advice would be gratefully received.

Tufty i'm envious   .
I'd love to do a project like that but unfortunately the funds are serverly lacking at the moment.
Chroming is going to be the expensive(painfull) bit due to all the labour involved. It think it cost about £30 -£40 pounds just to have a headlight rim rechromed. In a lot of cases it's cheaper just to go and buy the parts new. having said that the quality of the new part will not be anywhere near as good. I guess it depends how deep your pockets are.
You could always take on 2 paper rounds
keep the pictures rolling
