Tufty,

wiseric is right, some parts are cheaper to replace if the original is still available.
I want to get my rear shock chrome part redone as I can't source replacement.
I've looked about but undecided where to go so would be interested to hear if you get any chrome work done.

A while back you gave me a number of a powder coater you used before, is this the same guy?
Be interesting to see the results when you get it back, what colour did you decide on?

Cheers,

Blue

HI
The parts are all back from the powder coaters, the reason the frame was painted cellulose over powder coating was to hide a dent which caused problems on the first powder coat as the filler popped but a big bit of brazing and this was sorted.
Now to start saving up for the other work.

Re: Winter Projects
Are the chrome parts your referring to the top covers (or shrouds?)
Mine are full of tinworm so I'm planning to make a couple from stainless steel tubing.Theres a very helpful chap who usually attends the regular autojumbles at Kempton Pk and sells all sorts of useful materials - brass-steel -plastics etc.,- you name it - he's got it! I bought a couple of pieces of SS that have almost identical bore and diameter to the originals. It would mean inserting a large retaining washer or cap of some sort in the top end but think thats quite feasible.
If you'd like a pic of what I've got I'll be pleased to send one although that item isn't a priority job at present.
Cheers,Brian

Re: Winter Projects
Hi
The good news is the parts are back from the powder coaters and I am chuffed to bits all the parts look great.
Have been trolling around chrome platers and got several quotes I am now just recovering from the prices quoted and have now sent them off to Manchester where the more realistic price and turn around time were quoted once these parts arrive back I can start putting the ST50 back together
I also visited the powder coaters to drop some work related parts in and in the corner was Shorrocks frame looks good but the Tiger skin paint job (hydrography look it up on youtube ) is not to my taste.
Will post some pictures soon regards Tufty
