MUD GUARDS WANTED
Hi.

I know I am after the holy grail but I would like a front mudguard for a 1975 ST70 (low, wrap around type c/w stays).
The one on my bike is ok but rather than having the (slight) dents knocked out I was after one in good condition which I could have repainted immediately. Unfortunately they are about the only thing no-longer available new.
I am considering buying a 'spare' ST70 (or two) to act as doner bikes but I dislike doing this as it takes them off the road for ever so I woud rather try to find one that someone already has sitting around.

Cheers
Alan

Re: MUD GUARDS WANTED
Managed to pick up a pair for very reasonable prices in the end (from separate sources). A tatty secondhand unit but with good stays (£6) and a brand-new mudguard without stays (£10). Between the two I can make a brand-new unit.

Who said mudguards were hard to come by? :D

I am hoping they aren't too tricky to source - I have just got the frame, swingarm, wheels, headlamp bowl, forks, etc back from the grit blasters.... and no mudguards. Tried to phone, email and nothing. I'm worried! :(

I know how you feel! I couldn't get hold of the powdercoaters for ages when they had all my parts (frame, wheels etc) and I was really worried. Luckily everything was ok in the end and I got everything back :)

I'm sure they have your mudguards somewhere :)

Brand-new (UK spec) mudguards are available from the far east but without seeing them in the flesh it is impossible to see just how good they are (they look fine in the photos).
That said, I am glad I managed to source a new Honda item at a very reasonable price before supplies dried up.

Its just one of those items you just gotta keep lookin for - I'm sure some decent secondhand ones will turn up, just be careful not to be exploited with prices!!! ESPECIALLY ON EXTORTION-BAY!!!! You could always put the chrome ones on - they do look better but if its originality you require, then you gotta find em!! :D

I don't want to seem to cloak and dagger but I have been talking to someone who is bringing in some from overseas in January. I have been told to expect them to be about £30 each.
Sorry but I am desperate for a pair myself, so I will let the sorce be known after I have got some. I am not trying to be a T**t but I don't want to miss out myself. I will keep this thread up to date.

Are these genuine or the reproduction ones I mentioned in my earlier post as the price seems to be the same?

Sounds like the same ones.

Are you having them in chrome (yuk) or in bare metal? I asked about bare metal and they were going to be a few £ cheaper.
