Sprocket INFORMATION please
Hi,

How do i increase the speed of a Honda ST70 by changing the sprocket.

Do I INCREASE or DECREASE the number of teeth on the sprocket ?
How much difference would it make ?
What Sprocket size would be best ?

Thanks in advance.....

Hello Defadog,

Seeing as there are only four or five of us left in the "Club", I'll give you my take. I have 31 teeth on the rear and 17 on the front, this in affect gives me a better top end. But be careful because you could find your bike over reving. :o

Front sprocket:
larger --> higher top speed, slower acceleration
smaller --> lower top speed, faster acceleration

Rear sprocket:
larger --> lower top speed, faster acceleration
smaller --> higher top speed, slower acceleration

It compares +/- like this: 1 tooth of the front sprockt = 3 teeth of the rear sprocket
So 17/32 is comparable to 16/29.

Hi peeps
Why would you want to go faster on a rare lady Dax with handling which is comparable to a lawn mower on steroids 35 to 40 mph is about as fast as you can go safely
Remember when these were first made there were less cars on the road
Also the Dax was more than capable of keeping up with the fastest Fiat 500 !!!
Then you also have to consider the fashions of the day
Flared trousers, cheese cloth shirts, and side burns
Very short skirts
So going fast was not a consideration
Oh and remember most drains will swallow the 10 inch wheels and try a speed bump it's better than Alton towers

What is everyone using front and rear?

I need to buy a chain, rear and front sprocket for my ST70 with a Honda C90 engine in.
But I have no clue as to what set up and or make I should use.

Help :)

16-34 would be a great set-up to start.
Don't go any heavier as 17-32 as that would kill acceleration.

Thanks waynus,

Only problem I have now is I can't seem to find a 34t rear sprocket for an st 70 anywhere.
Tried my usuals places but no joy.

Can anyone recommend anywhere?

Cheers,

Blue
