I picked up one of blue's recommendations. anything you want to know just ask. I am sure it will be fine. looks like the same size. it has these large type spade connectors, anyone know where i can get some female terminals for this? i will just cut the wires off the existing battery and crimp some new terminals on to suit.

A regular electrical handy shop should have all types of terminals in stock.

some more information. the powersonic battery is sealed lead acid, not gel. I don't know the glass mat comes into it. I guess it might suspend the liquid and make it safe for transportation etc. there is no drain tube.

battery arrived at 6.4v without charging.

cleaned out the white deposits from previous battery with bicarb of soda. will have to shake out the rest. no petrol in tank so will put it on its side.

the white deposits left from the battery don't seem to be acidic but there are spots of corrosion on battery holder and one spot on tank, will de rust and paint it to protect.

fitted new battery after crimping on new spade connects

I have a horn now and green light on speedo! ps is that on when in neutral?

Re: 6v battery question
hi. me again. on the lookout for a 6v gel to fit a 6v Honda cub round lamper.

this is the dimensions.

http://www.batterymasters.co.uk/Product ... _2308.aspx

as you can see the replacement says 4ah.

but on this page for the gel batteries a less deep dimension gives 4.5ah. why is this?

http://www.powersonicbatteries.co.uk/sh ... y-%7C6528/

also. would it be ok to use this battery even though its not as big as the previous link? could I pack it out with cardboard?

thank you.

The second one is a bit higher.
I'm no expert in battery technology, so I can't tell you what it is that influences the Amperage.

Hi

The amp per hour -4.5 versus 4 amp is the time the battery takes to fully discharge if you draw 6 volts.

So the 4 takes 4 hours and the 4.5 a half hour longer.

So get the highest amp per hour you can afford!

Re: 6v battery question
I think the question was:
"How come the smaller battery is able to provide a higher Ah?"

And btw, the example you wrote is correct if... you're talking about a 1A consumer!
Or, 1 hour for a 4A consumer or... you get the idea.
