well unless there is a generic problem with the dax blowing bulbs i'll take it off, the wire wasn't connected to anything anyway, ive done the wheels, the mudguards, the rear shocks, the bit i'm dreading is taking the lectrics off the frame for painting,though to be fair there isn't a great deal to it,

Yes thats your best bet,its not a generic problem so hopefully it will be OK.
Wiring loom shouldn't present a problem,the wiring's fairly basic and its all colour coded.
If you have a schematic (wiring diagram) it'll be a doddle
