hi all, i'm taking my dax 70 to pieces for restoration, and mounted on the cross member of the front forks by the horn is what i think is the ignition coil, it as one wire which goes up inside the headlight, but the wire isn't connected to any thing, where does it go
thanks wayne

Strange... you got a picture of that?
The coil should be mounted inside the frame.
Could be an extra regulator as faulty regulators, batteries or light coild can produce over 40V, causing your bulbs to explode.
Or an indicator relais?

HI, I WILL TAKE A PICTURE , it looks like a big spring, as i say one wire that goes to the inside of the headlight, the bike asn't got indicators on it, so don't think its a relay, mmmmm very strange

Sounds like a resister, which presumably has been fitted to help prevent bulbs failing as Waynus said.
If I remember correctly they were fitted to the Honda c-50/70/90 stepthru's etc

It's indeed an extra resistor.
Which leads to the simple conclusion something is or has been wrong with the lighting coil, battery or wiring.
Also know as battery-less unit.

Suck it and see!
If you suffer from blown lamps you may need it.
If not ,leave it off, would be my advice
Look at it as an extra bulb, just to soak up more current than you need(at high revs),
but if not needed it will just dim your lights.
When used they get rather hot too

I suggest to search for the cause rather than try to camouflage it.

See if a problem exists before looking for a cure, you dont know if it was fitted for a genuine reason or not.
