Tufty's Honda ST70 - Finished
Tufty has asked me to post the pictures of his bike.

Here it is pre-MOT:

Here it is after it's MOT with a new breather and carb:

Tufty's bike looks fantastic! I'm sure he will be along later with more information :)

Re: Tufty's Honda ST70 - Finished
Hi Guys,
Yes at long last I have a running mot'd ST70, the bike went in for its mot and checkup the other week and as I bought a complete bike on ebay but decided to rebuild it myself I wanted it checked over to make sure I had not missed anything so I took it to Woodash Garage in Kent who also happen to be OORacing who specialise in mini, monkey and pitbikes and who are experts at engine and bike building. The bike passed with flying colours with the exception of the original carb as this was badly worn and would not have been reliable so I opted for a new carb as I was desperate to start using the bike. The breather was due to some crankcase pressure which was entirely my fault in that when I transported the bike the 125 miles to Woodash I decided to block the crankcase breather pipe just in case the bike moved DOH.
The Lady has covered approx 25 miles starts first kick runs like a sewing machine and arouses lots of admiration and questions whenever I am out and about, youngsters are the most questioning (is it a real motorbike mister).
I read members comments almost daily and am always amazed at the depth of knowledge and obvious enthusiasm members have for these machines and also the encouragement given to us mere mortals who are given support by personal messages and by phone help, so again thanks.
I just wish I had got it done earlier in the summer but hey ho now to find another ST70 to customize and maybe build to the amazing standard of the ones in the photos Waynus keeps posting.

Looks great Tufty. Really helps to see 'in progress' and 'finished' projects. Especially for those of us at the early stages and needing regular encouragement! Nice job!

Tufty, you did a wonderful job!
I really dig the squirrel! 8-)

I only quite miss the original look of the airbox.
(and it sounds so much better on a stock engine + better reability regarding rain, dirt)

Kumoh, the air brather caps are available from lots of different brands.
Both Japan quality parts and replica.
Just make sure you buy the ones for a stock head. (Honda Crf,...)
You can place it on the head or on the clutch cas. (where you fill it with oil)

That said, there is absolutely no need in an extra breather on a (nearly) stock head.
When it becomes necessary on such an engine, it shows there is something wrong.

Hi Waynus
Right again the breather was because i sealed the original breather when transporting the bike and forgot to unblock it, totally my fault but the engine guy fitted the aftermarket part not realising what i had done and the breather and cap is available from OORACING.

Hi Tufty
thats a damn fine white dax. My first dax is a white one, well it should be! (it states so on the old V5)
The guy i did a swapsie with down at southend way (a dax and a P50 shopper circa 1967 for a montessa cota 349) had it sprayed in old bogseat pale sky blue!!! hmmm no metallic base coat /dyecoat.
Anyhow i just wondered what the honda paint code is for the white so ican put my first dax eventually back to its orig colour.

Hi
paint codes for the Lady Dax are covered in Technical by waynus dated Feb 17 2009 if that helps I have now collected more parts for my second ST the yellow one the colour is actually Ford Millenium Zinc which was used on the ltd edition Focus,Fiesta and KA I only know this as I had the Focus for a company car and nobody noticed it until it arrived from the dealership then all the jokes started including putting AA stickers on it. Anyway I have got the alloy rims a front fairing and a proper front mudguard off of a grown up motorbike they just need prep and painting. And does anyone know where those sexy looking exhaust mountings can be bought, the ones with the eyes at both ends and what looks like a curved tube in between. Hopefully the weather will improve so that I can get back to the garage and start working on the ST.
Regards Tufty
