HOW ABOUT A MEETING?

I was just thinking that it might be a nice idea if as many of us as possible could possibly get togther sometime for a chin-wag and look at each others bikes? Ok so far but how about we all try to get there on our ST's?

My initial thoughts that as so many of us appear to either be in the middle of a rebuild or are just having mechanical problems it whould have to be next year (perhaps May / June time when the days are at their longest?). Distance wise, I think a radius of about 100-miles is about the most anyone would want to travel on one of these bikes which would make a maxium journey that day of no-more than 200-miles for any one person. Ok, that may sound a lot but I have done it before and as long as you keep off the motorways / dual-carriageways and stick to the minor roads it is amazing how much fun it can be (carry a mobile & recovery-card just in case!). With this in mind, a luch-time / afternoon meeting would probably be best and then the long evening should allow everyone to get home in decent daylight.
To determine a location probably best just to draw a circle on a map with a radius of about 100-miles around all our home addresses and then see which area is covered by the most people who would be willing to make it. There is always going to be someone who is outside the area and likewise someone is going to have to travel only a very short distance but that is all part of the fun.

How about it then, anyone up for it?

Sounds good to me! Hopefully by then my bike will be back on the road so I can travel on it, although the furthest I have ever been in one ride is about 20 miles!

I'm sure we will have a lot more members by then as well

Sounds GREAT ! ! ! but....... I need pontoons and a week to get there. . . . Oh well. . .

I would definately come over if it's possible at that time!
The longest trip ridden on my lady is 150 miles without a problem (except of some back pains )

I would take the ferry, bike in the car (or 2 bikes most likely, can't leave my friends behind ) travel towards the meeting, and make a nice trip in the afternoon.

Just 12 months untill I get my company car, with room for a couple of daxes.
So... count me in if the time is right!

Sounds like a great idea. Just the deadline I need to get the bike ready by (I'll aim for April, you know how there's always something else you forgot about!).

Living in North Devon nowhere is liable to be close. I'd drive in my VW van (one of my other passions) and ride the last few miles!

nbmonkey - I'm sure you will have your bike sorted by then. My bike was a wreck and I got it road-worthy and MOT'd within a few months so it's definitely possible.

As for the meet next year - I am planning to go travelling in January but will probably be back by about May/June time so it will give me little time to get the bike prepared

Sounds like a bit of interest then, would be nice to meet up and chat.

As I suggested it I suppose I will have to make sure the ST70 is on the road by then! My Dax is taxed & MOT's but that is a 30MPH special while the ST70 will cruise at a slightly safer speed.
