HI
Thank you for your support guys,
You should have stayed as a manual worker Shorrocks with a nice van and some early finishes but I suppose the dizzy heights of management and the extra money were too much for you to resist.
The lardy Dax is getting there but I am not sure about the rear rack, will it be big enough for all those spare parts and extra fuel you will need to carry??
Hi Blue I did notice that you did not mention bringing a bike or are you like the rest of them, keeping them under wraps or should I say in the dark.
Regards Tufty

I hope to be there and meet up again and might even ride mine there if I ever get it finished before I'm too old to get my leg over.
I learnt a lot last year by just bringing my unfinished ST/Z50projects and found it was a great opportunity to compare notes and talk all things ST to the educated guys that were there. It provides a great opportunity especially for anyone new to restoring ST's to find out what-fits-what and where and which of the odd bits you've somehow managed to fit back-to-front, upside down and even inside out!
It could be a great opportunity to swop/sell/exchange parts if the organisers have no objection.
Back to the garage and carry on restoring (good name for a film?)

@Tufty,

"Hi Blue I did notice that you did not mention bringing a bike or are you like the rest of them, keeping them under wraps or should I say in the dark."

They are in the dark as I have no electricity in my shed, seems to work quite well from a breeding perspective as 3 is now 4 :)

Picked up a nice little 50 yesterday :)

I'm intending to bring at least one bike :D

HI Blue
If your shed is in darkness how do you know there are only 4 bikes in there, it would be great to see you at the show along with Brian.
I would like to bring a few bikes not sure which ones as they are stored in several different locations at the moment due to my workshop roof leaking and as I am sitting here doing my VAT returns I can see a heavy frost descending. This will not help the roof situation so I will be calling in a few favours from friends for storage of my machines.
I have noticed that although we have various headings perhaps we could have a Dates for your Diary section which would make it easier to post for shows etc, you are the man for this task.
Anyway back to the paperwork and perhaps after paying my tax bills I will have some left to carry on with the builds as at the moment I have a Chaly to completely rebuild and a 1969 ST50 to finish just need some parts from David Silver for this one, this one has required extensive body work as it had been in some sort of accident the rear end was out of alignment with split welds and there was a rather large dent in the cross bar section both hidden from my gaze with filler but became obvious when blasted.
The good news is I have a running Lady Dax which is one of the very very very rare models, a St70 customised bike, a 69 Minitrail and a 50cc jincheng monkey bike which has been slightly modified.
I know you are a Honda Snob but the price of original monkey bikes is prohibitive having done the Minitrail which is a money pit.

Regards Tufty
P.s Brian more pictures please.

LO again
I'll be posting some pics when it looks a bit nearer completion. I've been working on the mounting the extra Suzuki T20 petrol tank the same as Shorrocks has fitted which is nearly complete and it will have to be sprayed Honda Matador Red the same as the rest of the bike so it's a few weeks off yet.
For those that might fit one of these tanks the thread size on the bottom outlet fitting is 14mm x 1.5 pitch.I've made up an elbow turned, tapped and threaded using a short piece of brass hex section, with a stub threaded 6mm to take 5mm petrol pipe. It screws in and just fits neatly in the gap between the top of the chainguard and the bottom of the tank.Pics to follow
Having a bit of a problem with fitting the original Honda front brake cable as the nipple on brake lever end of the cable is too small to fit the slot in new OORacing brake lever (Part no. 8121) assembly. It all came with the OORacing part 2079 throttle kit and didn't realise the nipples were different sizes.I suppose I could try and unsolder the existing small nipple and fit a larger one but I've never done this before and don't want to risk ruining the original cable which is still usable.
Any suggestions if this is possible?
Must go - hospital appointment!

Hello Brian,

Good to see you're still "Doing stuff" :D
I had the same problem some time ago with the throttle nipple. Yamaha made a small over sleeve that slides over your existing small nipple to make it the size you need.
I'm sure if you take it down to you local bike shop they will size it for you................hey presto no de-soldering/soldering ;) ;)

All the best Si

Thanks Simon - very helpful as usual! Any idea what Yamaha model or roughly what year it could have been used on?
