hi folks. i have managed to get hold of an st70 resto. the wheels have been hand painted, i am going to rub them down and treat them to some silver paint. i had some silver hammerite left, is this recommended? i know it might react to oil and petrol ingress so what do you guys recommend?

also does anyone have a paint code and recommended/cheap make of paint for the hubs/rims/flywheel cover?

lastly, i was wondering what colour to do the mudguards. i was thinking a type of old english white/rover white, what colours do you recommend? thanks all.

White mudguards and silver hubs and rims. Are you building a show pony (say goodbye to mega bucks) or a rider. There are lots of colour codes etc on various posts on this site it is just a matter of searching. Where are you based, and do you realise what a very very very rare bike you have and please post some pics as is.

There has been indeed a version with white wheels / hubs.
But that was a NT (12v Dax)

have you got the 3 or 4 spoked hub?

Doing a '73 ST50 restore here. Working on the engine.

I was told that only the covers were painted; the engine block itself would be left in 'bare aluminium'-condition.

Hmmm... Bare aluminium requires some sort of maintenance to stay good looking, right? So, is the block itself covered with e.g. clear lacquer, is it supposed to turn 'grey' with time - or was i misinformed.

Could anyone elaborate on the engine colour choice, so that I can 'get it right' :)

You're right about the covers and the bare alu.
But... I have no idea the cases where lacquered or not.
And yes, they do age quite fast.

No problem, no pun intented. I just like short clear answers myself. :D
Official brand colours are hard to convert into RAL colours. You can have the paint specialist to read out a painted piece to find out the correct mixture.
With the manufacturer code you can order the correct paint.
