Hi James & Waynus
Just picked up 2 disposable filters @ £1.25 each which are designed for bikes as i looked at the ones you were after (James) and they are quite large where as these ones are rectangular and only 3/8 deep and 3/4 wide by 1 inch long so will sit quite neatly. I also noticed the ones you were interested in were glass which means you will have to fix them clear of the engine and I was concerned about vibration Waynus your input would be appreciated.

Well, as for as your concerns go: no need to worry :D
1) heat: glass is more resistant to heat as standard cheap pastic is. (Not talking about PVC or other thermal resistant platsics)
Second, the distance from your engine (especially the cilinder and exhaust produce a lot of heat, oil should never get any warmer than 120°C) is far enough. The carburator, spark wire,... are much closer. On a sidenote: I think (!) the ones James posted aren't really made out of glass.

2) size: the 'best' place to fit these are not far from the fuel tank. The filters are situated behind the carb, so 'in' the bikes frame. So they can't or hardly can be seen.

3) Vibrations: Because these filters are fitted in between two parts of fuel tubes, they get to vibrate freely and thus receive no stress on the material. As long as you don't have (and they shouldn't) a fixation point directly attached to the engine (frame, engine bolts,...) you shouldn't fear vibrations. No worries, they are not that weak at all.

Interesting thoughts guys.

Well I ordered 2 yesterday which were different from the ones in the link I posted yesterday. I ordered 2 of these (the clear round 6mm ones):

What is the best way of inserting these? Obviously I will need to cut the fuel lines in half and have these between? Should I have a couple of inches of pipe coming from the tank and then have the filters after that? I am not fussed if they are on show or not, although if you can see them at least you know fuel is going through them without having to drop the engine or pull out the fuel tank!

Hi James
In one of the photos I have sent you mine are just under the air filter I cut the fuel lines but left just enough to grab hold of to fit the filters also the pipes curve to the carb so you need enough slack so as not to stress the filter nipples.
