detachable/quick disconnect throttle cable??
Wanted: 1 detachable/quick disconnect throttle cable to fit ST70 with detachable front end.

Is it me or does this just sound like a weird request? Who comes up with idea for a motorcycle that fits in your car trunk?
Regardless, I couldn't find one using the almighty Google. So if anyone has a spare detachable throttle cable they've laying around, let me know.

I'm afraid you won't...
These is a very, very, very rare part.
Not available as aftermarket, only used with the few bikes that has a detachable front, and there are very few survivors among the cables.
I sold one a couple of weeks ago...

The main purpose was not to be able to fit the bike in a trunk, but in a camper to take it with you on holiday.

Thanks for the info Waynus!

I think it's a great idea to have a detachable front end, just interesting/curious that some one would come up with the idea. I have seen pictures of old Honda Brochures where a couple is loading a CT70 into a Honda hatchback and in some Honda document I read (i think it was a manual for st50's, which also had some models with a detachable front end) it refers to the idea that you could remove the front end so it can easily be transported in the trunk of a car. Camper, car it's all the same. I drive a Mazda hatchback and the st70 will fit in the back of my car upright with the main stand down, if i could completely remove the front end. I was thinking it would be awesome to have that option so i didn't have lean it sideways to transport it. But i imagine that happening so infrequently, i'm not really worried about the detachable cable. Plus, i think there would be enough slack in the throttle cable where i could just lay the steering unit on it's side next to the bike without damaging or twisting it too much. I just thought it would be a nifty original feature to replace if i could.

here's a link to a company i found that could probably figure out a working solution if they don't already have the part i didn't do much research yet: http://www.madisonpowersystems.com/1cab ... shpull.htm

Not Original part but...

I haven't tried it (yet) but I think you could make the piece yourself, starting with a spare part of the front brake switch.
When removing the rubber protection, you'll notice a metal piece holding together two pieces of cable.
If you would bent up one end (maybe it has to be a bit longer) and widen the hole, you should be able to easily dismount when needed.
But indeed, the throttle cable should have enough slack.

On a side note: some early type z50's had these option as well. Even more rare...
Also, if you're looking for the piece of cable loom coming out of the headlight (with an extra connector to dismount when removing the front end) I've got a spare one lying around...
