rear shock cover
Hi all,
does anyone have a rear shock spring cover spare? Its the top (painted) part. My bike has one missing because some numbskull removed it to bodge the exhaust on!
A candy ruby red one would be good although any colour or condition would do as I can clean it up and paint it. I don't mind if its dented or scratched as long as it is intact with no holes.

Please help!
Paul.

Still available as a new part from Honda but only in Blue (part number 52460051820YC at £9.70 + VAT).
By the time you have found an old cover and cleaned it up it might just be worth buying a new one and painting it.

Rear shocks hold their value quite well as they are no-longer available new as a genuine part although pattern copies are available from the Far East for about £41/pair inc delivery.

Thanks for that.
I assume my shocks are genuine, the intact one has a black cover which seems odd as the bike is red?

That is very odd as they should be the same colour as the frame.

That reminds me, I need some stiffer shocks for my bike as it's like riding a bike that is on jelly!

Hi James
I assume you are not talking about your lady, remember these are only springs to absorb bumps not dampers my lady rides as well as ever or it is more likely that you have only ridden modern bikes with very technical suspension remember these were primarily field or trail bikes modded for road use. to stiffen up your suspension would require uprated springs and I dont know if they are available but I know a man who might (enter Waynus ) anyway I have been out and about on the Lady and she still draws admiring glances and it is amazing how many people of a certain age have either owned or know someone who has owned a "monkey bike" I have given up telling people these are not monkeys but minis but hey ho. Its the cleaning afterwards that is a chore but I am determined to get some miles on her. What is the state of the various projects we have heard about over the summer or are they now in hibernation ?????????

Hi Tufty

Yeah I mean the Lady! She has a very bouncy back end which I am not a huge fan of :( Although I have rode a lot of modern motorcycles I try not to compare them to the ST70 as the technology is so different. Hopefully with some stiffer shocks I will have a nicer ride!

My Lady is currently locked away in her new shed where she will hibernate for the winter months before I get her out, sort the problems and use her again in the spring/summer! The Engine needs a complete strip down but I don't have anywhere to work on it at the moment and I don't like the cold much!

I am however going to have a lot of time on my hands from December 23rd as that is the last day of my current job and I have nothing else lined up. Travelling is still on the cards (I am off to Russia on 4th January providing my Visa gets approved), but after that if I can't find a new job I will probably tinker with the bike and get her fixed up (amongst over projects).

All the best,

James
