Someone on the forum offered an ST side stand for sale a few weeks ago and although I asked about it there was no reply as to whether it was sold or not and now I can't find the contact details!
If anyone has one for sale I'm interested so please let me know
Thanks,Brian

Hi Brian,
I was in a similar situation to you when I restored our 1972 Lady Dax.
The centre stand and side stand unit was very badly worn and very badly butchered with no hope of resurrecting it.
I looked around and the best I could do was purchase a repro combined centre stand and side stand from Monkey Bike UK--I believe they now trade under a different name.
The footrests on this unit did not fold as per the originals, but were fixed. I made up a fixture, cut off the fixed foot rests and the original footrests very carefully so that they could be welded onto the unit.
The result was I now had a centre stand. side stand and folding footrests--you need to look very carefully to see the join!
I know this is not as per original, but it does give me a secure centre and side stand which was important to me.
I still have the fixture which you are quite welcome to have should you decide to go down the road as me.
Then again you may be as absolute perfectionist and prefer to look for the original article.

Hope this may be of some help.

Regards

Ken

Hello Ken

Thanks for the info.Yes- I'm definitely a (wannabe)perfectionist but it never seems to work for me!
My centre stand was worn out so I modified it to make the bike sit properly by drilling and tapping two 2BA holes on the crosspiece on the topside and fitting a piece of 1/4" flat strip across it.This was to reduce the gap where the stand was worn, between the 12mm bolt heads that secure the stand frame to the underside of the crankcase. It works a treat!
I could send some pics to your email address if you're interested.
Fortunately it has fold up footrests and the mounting bracket for a side stand so all I need is the sidestand arm and bolt.
Cheers, Brian
