COIL & RECTIFIER
I've got one of each of these but can't be sure they are the correct items for my ST70 even though they may look to be right.I found out that one item from the pile I bought - the plastic chain guard now on eBay - was from a Z50J which leads me to suspect there could be others which is why I thought some knowledgable soul might be able to confirm these are correct.

Anyway I've got a TEC coil AS41 CDI (with a P) also stamped on it.No other markings so don't know if its for a 6v ST70

The other is a rectifier in a black plastic box marked CI 16 3.0 283 and has a 7amp fuse slipped in the rubber holder that presumably clips onto the frame.

If anyone can positively identify these as being correct for my ST70 it would be a great help.

Anyone going to Kempton Pk autojumble on Saturday let me know with a PM - would be nice to meet some fellow ST'eers

Re: COIL & RECTIFIER
Further investigation shows that the coil is definitely 12v and has been checked to be in working order.

Without ploughing through reams of technical info. is there a simple way I find out if the engine I got with the bike is a 6v or 12v unit?
I could check the headlight bulb but that's no guarantee it's the original one fitted to the bike.
Although the engine came with the bike it wasn't in the frame so its more than possible it could have been from something else.
If it's a 12v unit I presumably could use the CDI and coil system

What I've got can be described as being a bit of a dog's breakfast but all part of the good fun in finding out though!
Any helpful comments or guide lines welcomed (apart from sell it!)

Hi Brain,
There are a number of different types of engines out there so it would be best to post a pic of the engine (flywheel side), I'm sure someone on here will be able to identify what type it is. If you can, take a pic of the flywheel as well as this will also help identify what engine you have.

Re: COIL & RECTIFIER
I've now got a new 6v coil fitted to the horizontal plate under the petrol tank inside the ST frame, but although the spec of the coil is correct and according to parts list it's the right one it can't be bolted just using a couple of short 6mm bolts and nuts to the plate as the bulge in the coil fouls the plate. The answer?
Unless you've got the tiniest hands in existence put 2 ALLEN bolts about 30mm through from the bottom of the locating plate inside the frame and screw on a nut to secure them to the plate. Then screw a 6mm hex nut onto the each thread to about half way down and slide the coil onto the two "pillars" so the bulge in the coil dosen't foul the plate. Then screw to 6mm hex nuts on the remaining threads and tighten them up.
Oh, by the way - if you haven't got teeny-weeny hands you'll probably need to drop the engine out so you can get at the bottom of the plate to put the 6mm Allen bolts in.I had to drop my engine out anyway to renovate the centre stand

Hope this might help someone.
Brian
