Help needed, Ignition switch wiring
Hi Guys
Not posted for a while but im struggling with a wiring problem. Im in the process of building a Chaly (6V) & have got to the wiring stage, in the box of bits I bought was a OOH ignition switch (new) but all the colour's are different to my original 6V loom. Is there a wizzard out there that can tell me which colour's go to where on my loom please, I am a complete numpty when it come's to wiring, its a form of black art if you ask me. The colour's on the new switch are as follows.
Black/White
Blue/White
Brown
Black
Green/White
Red/White
Yellow/Red
Cheers
Phil.

Hi,
You've got a lot of wires on yer switch!
It would help if you state what wires(connectors) are on your loom for the switch.
I have my 6v ST-70 switch in front of me now and it has red , red/white, which are connected to bring battery etc.into life.
Black ,which is from ign.points and green/white (earth?) which connect when switch is off to stop/prevent spark.
To sumerise - Switch On = contact made between red and red/white.(none between black and green/white)
Switch Off = contact made between black and green/white ( none between red and red/white)
Its very basic and very simple on the ST,definately no magic or 'black arts' involved !!!!!!!
Hope this helps a little.

Hi Chief
Many thanks for the reply, I have binned the OOH ignition switch idea & going to use a (i think) ST70 switch, which has indeed got all the colour code's that you stated. Just a quick question, am I right in thinking the lights do not work if the engine isn't running?. Do the indicators & horn work just off battery power?. Any more that two wires & im fooked, that is the extent of my wiring skills !

Hi Phil,
Thats probably the best option.
Correct, engine needs to be running to operate lights.
battery powers horn, brakelight and indicaters if fitted

Cheers,
Chief.
