HT lead/Coil (6v)
Does anyone know if the HT lead screws into the coil or is iremoveably attached. I want to replace it and dare'nt try and unscrew it in case its the latter. If it is I will cut it close to the coil and solder the new to the old and sleeve with heatshrink, but of course best option would be to replace completely.
If anyone's got experience of this I'd be gratefull (1973 - 6v)
Thanks

Hi mate i went down this road last year.
Do not try to take the cable out of the coil body.
The way i got round the problem was this way.
Cut back the origonal ht cable about 4 inches
You now need some stainless steel tig welding wire about 2 inches long
Push the welding wire into the origonal ht cable using pliers about half way.
get a piece of new copper core ht cable and push this over the exposed end of the protruding welding wire.
cover the joint with insulating tape and heat shrink
Re fit the ht cap
That worked for me
Any probs please give me a call on

Or just replace the coil :) It comes complete with the ht lead attached and you get a new coil !! which could be at fault to start with..........

Andy,Thanks for the info,I've got some titanium wire, which I believe should be a bit more conductive and its pretty rigid, so I'll try your suggestions with some of that. Even though its protected by being tucked away in the frame your right to add some rigidity to the connection.

Arny, The coils good, just the HT lead is a little short,I guess because previous owners have cut it back at some time when replacing the plug cap.

Cheers Guys,
