Hi Guys
I posted a message on PLANET MINITRAILS and got a reply from MOTODEVO so I must credit him with this reply below
Firstly, Try a new plug, I have had a plug that looked fine and sparked when tested but were dead under compression (use NGK).If not a plug issue then unplug the wiring from the motor(6 way connector), crimp a female spade onto a scrap piece of wire and plug it onto the black wire coming from the motor, this wire feeds your ignition coil. Connect a multimeter probe to this wire and the other probe wire to ground, you should see a couple of volts every time you kick it over, if you do then you have established the engine(magneto) is ok. Then use the multimeter probe on the loom plug and ground the other probe wire, you should have a dead short with the ignition switch off and a few ohms with it on, if you have a dead short in both positions check the switch. If its ok move onto the coil, now connect the scrap wire from the motor to the coil(or use a spare coil just make sure it is grounded0 and see if you have a spark by kicking it over no spark= dead coil (make sure you take the plug top connector off and just use bare end of HT lead)
thanks again to MOTODEVO
Regards Tufty
