TAPER HEADRACE BEARINGS
Silly question time.

Looking to replace the steering bearings on my 1975 UK spec ST70 with the taper type (did this on my earlier Honda's and they work very well), several places sell them but often they specify years which they will fit. Ones I have looked at state 69-73 or others 77-81, OORacing don't specify a year but give a size and say they fit all years whereas MBUK don't even sell them saying they have never found a problem with the OE items.
Now i'm not really looking to improve the steering but just want to fit the simpler (to fit) bearings.

Anyone had any problems with what they have bought or have they all been ok?

Hey Litch,

I got the ones from OORacing, went in to my 73 St ok with a bit of persuasion :)
Hope this helps,

Thanks. :D

I think Tufty bought some from OOR, will be interesting to know what year his bike is (bikes are!?!) and if they went in ok.

Try these guys, simplybearings.co.uk, if you know the size's you need they will probably have it & they are nice peeps to deal with.
I found them very resonable, compared to OEM stuff
Cheers

I have used my local bearing supplier for bearings & seals in the past but for the steering head bearings in particular I was wanting to just get a kit without the hassle.
You are quire correct, in normal circumstances it is usually better to go and get bearings direct from a supplier and even going for the best (Timken for instance) you usually save money.
