Hi,
I was looking at the dax website which tells about disabling the rev limiter to get a little more performance out the engine.Has anyone tried this or is it a bad idea with regards to the engine life?

Re: Rev limiter ?
Are you talking about a unrestricted CDI box on a 12v dax?
Depends on engine set-up and sprocket ratios if it's safe, but will increase performance on any setup.

Hi Waynus,
Im talking about the 6 volt engine. the intructions are to screw or wire together the rev limiter mechanism to prevent its operation. They recommend using a 15 or 16 tooth small sprocket.

O yes,
there are 3 things you can do (no risk on engine damage whatsoever)
- Weld or bind together the retarding mechanism (so that the arm remains closed at all times)
- Fit an unrestricted flywheel
- Fit an advanced mechanism flywheel (fastet option) Mitshibushi, Hitachi or (fastest one) Nippon Denso 6v 1-arm advancing
Make sure the stator and flywheel are the same make.
This is only possible as long as you don't have the flat Hitachi flywheel. This doesn't have a retarding mechanism anyway (and is a slow flywheel)

Thanks for the advise Waynus think I will weld the mechanism if I dont see any of the different types of flywheel you mentioned on the internet.
