Rack & Spring

Racks4.jpgThinking of adding a luggage rack to my ST70. I have blinkers. All the parts places say they are for models without blinkers. My blinkers are mounted on my license plate frame on the top corners. Do you think the rack will fit w/o interference? (Picture of rack here)

Also, Any chance that stretching the carburetor slide spring will help my throttle grip to spring back to off easier? Or installing a heavier spring? Cable is new and so is throttle assembly. It stays on when I release it.

Don't know about the rack...

The throttle is a known issue. Some use it to drive single- or no-handed.
You could indeed install a stronger spring.
Did you greasen the new cable? If not, dos so.
Also, make sure there isn't any durt or rust under the throttle grip, and grease it as well (+ the inner side of the handle bar).

Thanks for the tips. Whats the best way to grease the new cable after it is installed? I did not grease it when it was new and installed. I'll be on the lookout for a stronger spring. I have my eye on a few spring assortment kits on Amazon. If I find a good one I'll post it here somewhere.

Stretching a spring makes no difference to it's strength, which is determined by the wire diameter and number of coils.

That makes sense. I recieved a new carburetor today and the spring in it has more coils and a larger wire diameter and is therefore much stronger. Tomorrow I will add gas and see how much trouble I run into getting it set. I hope not too much. Anyone here set up new carbs lately? Any tips?

Also, on the aftermarket carbs the top piece (carb cap) (rubber sleeve) sticks mostly straight up and will hit the bottom of the cross frame. So I had to use my existing carb cap as it was a 90 degree angle and clears the frame nicely. Makes me wonder why they go to so much trouble to copy a carb but the actual piece that makes it run will not work (unless you get the multi-position pipe inlet, to offset the carb). Also the bolts they give you with the carb are too short.

Because they aren't specifcly made for the Dax'es.
Other models use the straight piece.
