Oil Filter & /Horn
Thought it best to start with a fresh post as I have clogged up another topic with too many different questions about my DAX 1970 ST70

1) I bought and installed a new horn/battery/horn handlebar switch assembly. Installed them all no problem but horn sounds very bad. Not low decibles but it sounds like it's underwater and sort of garbled. Any ideas what may help me fix this?

2) I want to clean/change the oil filter. I have no manual. How would I go about finding and cleaning or replacing that filter?

If any of you have done it before/recently maybe a quick step by step if not too much trouble.

This sounds like a hifi tweeter that has been overloaded. I'm afraid it's unrepairable.

No need to replace a filter, just clean them.
Remove the clutch cover.
At the right bottom there's a metal filter that you can pull out and clean.
If you want to clean the centrifugal, just remove the cover plate (3 or 4 screws, depending on built date) and clean it with a towel + renew the gasket.
Make sure you put each small part back in the correct order.

Thanks a ton, sounds like even I can do this. This bike is sure a lot of fun to work on.

Sounded easy. Went and looked. The clutch doesn't seem to have a cover. There is a nut with a slotted screw in it for clutch adjustment. Other than that I see I would have to remove the kick stsrter, the brake pedal and about 6 screws that hold the side plate on. Is this right?

Sorry, maybe I explained it wrong.
You should first drain the oil (or lay the bike on its left side) and dismount the kick start + 6 bolts in order to remove the whole cluth case.

Probably worth buying the Haynes manual for the Honda C50, C70 & C90 as the engine is the same as the ST70/CT70 (C90 engine is the same in principle but does differ in some aspects), even if it isn't available over there I can't see that it would be very expensive to order one from over here. The manual for the SS50 is the one to avoid as although you might think the engine is the same that has a manual clutch.
There are differences in the C70 & CT70 engines but they are really minor and I think are probably limited to the carb and the charging coil.

Makes sense, I was afraid to loosen anything for fear of oil. Now I believe I understand. Thanks for clarifying that. :-)

Will look it out for purchase. I really need one. Where would you buy it from? Thanks again!

If it isn't available over there then you can just buy it from Amazon or Ebay and have it sent over, well worth it in my opinion.
