new steering bearings
Hi
Has anyone installed new tapered bearings on an ST with removable forks? I 've done the job and everything works ok, but the lever that detaches the forks won't screw in all the way. There is a gap of about 1/2 a cm .How tight should the tensioner nut be,I've only done it finger tight plus 1/4 turn.

Re: new steering bearings
Hi Blue
They look very similar to mine, but I got mine here http://www.cmsnl.com/products/tapered-s ... ng_ssh200/
just because my model is older and I didn't want to take any chances.
My issue is the cap for the bearing goes in ok,but sits flush with the top of the head pipe.it seems fine there but it means the actual bearing sits a little above the head pipe. It's covered by the dust cover and tensioner nut,and the steering seems fine (no wobbles at all),but I'm just wondering if that's how it should be,or whether the cap should sit lower than the top of the head pipe.
