Rims and Mudguards
Hi,
I've been trawling the forums and getting heaps of great information about the restoration of my type1 st70.I want to get the rims sandblasted and undercoated.I've seen the colour NH-35M cloud silver metallic mentioned as the colour for the rims. Are the low type mudguards also painted that colour, and what brand of paint is it?Are there alternatives? Also I've read that some people have difficulty getting the rims apart or something like that.Is there a trick to it,or any tips I should know ?Thanks.

Yep, it's the same colour code for all the gret parts.
It's pretty hard to get the original colour. I know some of our fellow members have used good substitutes. Maybe they can help you out.

The rims can stick together because of the rust. Just be patient and wise, use WD-40 and force but not that much you can bent the rims.

Thanks for that. The good news is that my rims came apart fairly easily depite some rust,so now I just have to find some colour close enough to cloud silver metallic here in Australia...

Hi,
I'm having real trouble finding NH-35M here in Australia. Is NH-35M a metallic or solid colour?and can anyone give me a couple of alternatives in other brands. My guards and rims are in the shop now getting sandblasted and I don't want to leave them lying around. Also, what sort of undercoat should I use if I had to spray them myself. Thanks

I think it's just solid Silver not metalic, but I'm new to this, maybe I'm wrong?
I'm trying to restore my bike too and have a few questions myself about the wheel restoration.

The rims seem straight forward enough, shotblast and paint with NH-35M, laquer afterwards maybe?

Q1. I guess this is painted with NH-35M, but whats the best way to prepare and finish this, does it need laquer?
Q2. This is aluminum, and therefore I assume will polish up, but what with and do you laquer it afterwards?
Q3. Not sure what this is called, the brake bit, :) Paint or polish?

Also the bolts, repace or repair?

Im sure a few of you have already done this, Im looking to keep this as original as possible, so your experiances and advise is welcome.

Thanks,

Blue
