Hi Peeps
Can anyone shed any light on what the axle nut torque setting should be as I fitted new tyres today which was quite straight forward (much to my delight) on refitting the wheels I refered to my trusty copy of an original ST70 workshop manual supplied by Honda UK for under a fiver also the CLYMER manual and I also have an original 91-93 ct70 manual and also a 1971 ST70 owners manual and none of these specify the torque setting which is very unusual for Honda knowing how fussy they are and also service agents would not want to send out serviced machines in a possibly unsafe condition.
Can anyone help
P.S over to you Waynus (this guy is an absolute goldmine of information)

Haha...
I'm sorry, but I never read, heard,... a torque setting for any of the ST70 bolts & nuts.
I always tightem securely, just make sure you do not overtightem them.
There's a safety pin (don't know the right English word) anyway on the axle, so if anything should go wrong...

Hi Waynus
Thanks for the quick reply, I had a feeling that would be the answer ,the english word is a split pin but I have seen them refered to as cotter pins as an aside the size is 3 x 25mm.

I think the word 'cotter' is an old word for the 'split pin'. I know that Honda refer to them as Split pins though.

I bought two new ones for my axles and they were pretty cheap considering :)

There is not a right and wrong setting as the split pin will prevent the nut from becoming loose. ;)

True.
So that means it's important to have a split pin in good condition, and that it's worse to overtighten the nut as it would to mount it a little too loose.
