Rear shocks

Hi everyone. First post for me!

I'm restoring my 1973 Dax and am in need of a pair of the chrome tubes on the shocks. That's the middle tube, not the upper painted tube. Honda part number 52465 051 000

I've ordered lots of parts from CMSNL but they don't have these items. I've added them to my wishlist but I've been on this now for a while and they don't appear to be re-stocking.

Any ideas for a solution?

I've seen the various aftermarket shocks but they all have external springs and don't look stock. Any suggestions?

Ebay have a pair

Find some reasonable secondhand ones (you will probably have to buy a pair of complete shocks) and get the covers them re-chromed.

Alternatively you can buy complete new shocks to the original pattern from Vietnam, I have often looked at them but have not been in a situation where I need to buy them and would rather see them in the flesh first. I think I am correct in saying that at least one person on this forum has bought a pair (do a search) and they really liked them so you could be onto a winner. If you decide to go down that route you will probably find that it only costs a little more to bring in two or more pairs so you could do yourself a favour by buying some and then selling them on meaning you get yours for next to nothing.

Yes, I could recondition an old pair, and that may be what I have to do. However, are there any other parts stockists that may carry these apart from CMSNL?

Has anyone else had this issue with these parts? Do we know if they are discontinued across the board?

Although I have ordered a couple of items from CMSNL I tend to get the part numbers from their website and then order through David Silver who is UK based and usually slightly cheaper as well. If DS can't get it then it isn't available and as you have already found out, these aren't.

This part has been discontinued and can no longer be ordered from Honda

So, at least I know.

Back to plan B then. Buy and re-furb second hand shocks or buy so non-original aftermarket shocks.
