Problem with carburetor in CF50
Hi! I'm on the end of rebuilding my CF50. I have got a problem with setting idle in my bike. Carburetor looks good.
I'd cleaned it, and all parts looks that they are in good condition.
When I pull the choke engine works. When the choke is switched off engine doesn't work.
Compressing is correct. Sparking Plug is new.
Ignition timing is also correct.
Tappet clerance is correct.
I think that something in carburetor is broken down.

I have a few question to you.
Do you know could engine works normally without battery?

Do you know how I can set the float level? Image in Service manual contains a mistake:

I think about buying new carburetor from ebay auction.

Do you know is it works well?

Maybe you know what can be wrong in my bike, because I haven't got any more ideas.
I spent too many hours trying to turn the engine on.

I'm not englishman so forgive me language mistakes.
Next time I will send you pictures with rebuilded chaly.

Does the engine also turns off when you switch off the choke when the engine is WARM? If the engine is cold, it's normal that switching off the choke causes the engine to shut down.

Yes, no problem.

Information and pictures in the service manual are correct.
Why would you want to change the float level?
Are you sure it's not the idle setting you're looking for?

Sorry, I have no experience with that carb concerning fitting and permormance / reliability.

What I would strongly suggest you to do is the following:
- replace all gaskets if you haven't done this already during the cleaning (all of them and EVERY time you dismount the carb: manifold, float chamber,...)
- make sure there isn't any dirt in the fuel tank / lines / ...
- set up your carb correctly (idle setting + fuel mixture setting)

Good luck!

Thank's for your reply.
I think that engine gets too small dose of petrol. Setting the pilot screw doesn't change anything.
I think that float level is set incorrect, but I don't understand dimension H, which is presented on the photo.
Could you tell me between which parts of carburetor is made this dimension?
When I look at this picture I see, that dimension is between bottom part of carburetor, and gasket plane.
Maybe dimension should be made between bottom part of carburetor and and top plane of float?
I don't know how I can explain it, but dimension on this picture doesn't make sense for me  .

My ST70 was the same when I rebuilt it . I moved the circlip on the needle valve down 1 groove this gave the bike more fuel and it runs great now. The float level is usually measured from the gasket plane to the bottom of the float.
Hope this helps

Re: Problem with carburetor in CF50
Dimension 'H' is measured INSIDE the carburator, inside the bowl.
It measures the distance between the max and min height of the floater.

As Yelloperil answered correctly, bending the circlip can be necessary when the valve opens too late (and thus the fuel mixture will be too lean.)

If you want to make sure the mixture is wrong, check the color of the spark plug.
