Speedo cable

Bought a new speedo cable for my 6v dax as the old one kept slipping out of the thread sheath at the wheel end. Replaced the cable and it appears to fit perfectly, although the speedo doesn't work! Any ideas? Is it just a matter of plugging both ends in? Can it be done wrong?

Re: Speedo cable
You can't really do anything wrong here.
First, check if both ends are fit correctly.
If it appears so, loosen the end of the speedo drive (wheel side)
Turn the inside of the cable around and see if the speedo shows any sign of life --> If so, your speedo drive is worn.
If it doesn't, disconnect the other side (speedo side) and dismount the speedo.
Put a screwdriver in the hole (or drill) and give it a turn to check if the speedo is still working.
If it does, the cable was mounted incorrectly.

Cheers waynus. Manged to find out it was the wheel end after trying your tips. Took the wheel off and had to bend the two teeth on the drive to get then to slot into the two slots of the centre of the wheel(hope that makes sense). Put it all back together and works perfectly :)

I know what you mean... the two ends tend to bent up and loose their attachment to the wheel.
Glad it worked out for you!
