Difficulty Removing Seal From Front Brake Plate
Hi Guys,

I wonder if you can help me. I am having real difficulty trying to remove the seal from the front brake plate. I have taken a photo (see below):

The circled section numbered 1 is very tough so I presume it must be part of the brake plate itself?

What about the section I have circled number 2, is that part of the plate?

I have managed to remove a circle wire (clip?) from under the seal but I still can't get the seal out and I am worried about it sticking to the metal and getting stuck in places where I can't pick it out.

Any tips on how to remove it? When the plate is all cleaned up I have a brand new seal to go back in.

Many Thanks

Hmmm...
Never removed that myself, but it doesn't look to complicated?
As you said yourself: a new one will be fit afterwards, so don't be afraid to destroy this one.
Use a screwdriver / pair of pliers and it will come out eventually.
Just my 2 cents.

If you're not sure if there are metal parts under there, take a look at the pictures/exploded views on hondaheaven.org.

I tried a screwdriver, pliers, mole grips... everything lol.

I got the new oil seal delivered yesterday and it's really hard and firm. The one still in the bike is all soft and sticky so it's obviously worn out. Going to give it another go at the weekend I think.

The bike should be back on the road soon...

Having major difficulties with this and it's getting to the stage where I might bite the bullet and buy a brand new front brake plate...
I had to grind the seal out with a dremel tool today but there is a small recess which is impossible to get to and part of the seal is stuck down in there.

This is halting the project :(
