You say the plates are there, do you mean UK number plate or manufacturers data plate?

If the DVLA have no record then I suggest it is an import hence why the DVLA have no record. You can contact Honda UK direct and explain the situation and they should be able to shed some light on it for you or you can try the likes of David Silver or Monkey Bike UK who should be able to give you some guidence of which market it was originally intended for from the frame number.

HI guys
Yes HONDA UK should be your first call so as your bike can be identified and also if there are any duties to be paid as if it was brought in by them but never registered like mine the duty will have been paid but if it was a personal import and never registered there might be duty to be paid.
You might also want an original year registration "black and silver" number plate if you are lucky this could save you road tax but also make the bike more interesting,

Hello
I have just been through this getting, an unregisterd bike registerd.
Get a dating certificate using chassi number ( I got mine from Honda owners club uk ).
Get a letter from HM customs to say no Import duty is outstanding.
Get Mot on bike using chassi
Get Insurance on bike using chassi number make sure you can get it registerd before cover note runs (usually one mounth) they will give you a insurance cert when reg number is given.
Fill in DVLA form can't remember the number of this they will help you at your local office it cost £55.00
I had to take my bike to be inspected by DVLA then they issued age related Reg number and road tax.
