Chain length

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how many links a standard chain should be? I just got one from David Silvers (86 link) and you guessed it it's too short by about 4 links. The wheel is fully forward and I sure the sprockets are standard.

Re: Chain length
Hi,

Yes it was me and I had exactly the same problem. Found the old post about it but it doesn't say anything about the length and I can't remember how long it was :(

I bought mine from here: http://www.monkeybike.co.uk/acatalog/DI ... ngths.html

Sadly I can't find the old box and can't get to the bike to count them at the moment!

I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you the correct info.

Thanks

James

Re: Chain length
Just bought another chain from a local bike shop today, this time I just asked for the whole chain as I have got a chain splitter.

The correct lengh for my bike (1976) is 97 links plus the split link =98 links long.

It was fitted this afternoon as I was off work today and it dawned on me, the bike was ready for a quick road test. So no number plate and no mud guards fitted we were off up and down our avenue. Yipee
