Register my st70
Was wondering if someone can help me. I've had an st70 in my garage for going on 15 years. I've never had logbook as bought in bits without engine.. It's got a clear frame number to see. It's all pretty much original apart from I've put a c90 engine in and it's now 12v. How would I get it registered with a number plate. Is there any way of keeping origanal year as i think its an early one. Would I have to go Q plate? I'm lost please help..

If you have any an existing reg number you can apply to the DVLA for a new logbook, check the forms online, you only need the registration number and pay a fee.

This should be all that is required if the bike already exists in the system, you can check this my carrying out a vehicle check also through the DVLA website.

After you receive a V5 you could then submit a change of details which would be the new engine number and capacity.

There should be no reason that a Q plate is issued if the bike is mainly original.

If you have no reg number you wil have to go through a DVLA approved owners club to obtain a dating certificate to then obtain a new registartion document and number. Check on the DVLA website they have good guidance notes on the full process. This should lead to an age related plate being issued, I did this a few years ago with a BSA Bantam which had a non original engine and the process was straight forward.

Honda can provide a date of manufacture letter and the VJMC also provide the service, from comments on here Honda themselves can take a long time to get back to you, so the VJMC may be your best bet.
