st 70 cylinder head
I am currently recommissioning a 1973 st70, the threads on the head for the plug are damaged beyond repair
so I need a new cylinder head. Ebay has a brand new one from china (£35) but the camshaft cover measurement
is 96mm, the original camshaft cover is 85mm, all other sizes seem the same, will they fit?.

will any c70 cylinder head fit this engine

Anyone got a st70 cylinder hed for sale

Hi

I had mine fixed with a heli-coil. A re-thread. Job was done by a bike shop. Can’t remember how much. But It worked a treat. Just a different option for you if you want to keep it original.

Re: st 70 cylinder head
The only reason I had to change the head is someone had over done the tension on the cam chain and it sent bits of rubber up to the head and blocked the oil ways in the cam starving the cam journals of oil so scored them so bad the cam had loads of play in the head as well as the head was well scored
so I had no choice as could not find an original one but I have still got the old one

If you have someone nearby that uses Time-sert get them to replace the thread with it. It’s a carbon steel insert that fits gas tight and won’t come out like helicoils do.
