hi I'm a newbie to the site and was wondering if anyone could help? I've bought a new stator off shires bikes website for my 6 volt honda st 70. I've just gone to fit it and noticed that there is only a 4 wire plug on my new one. but on my old plug it has 5 wires. have i got the wrong stator or do i not need to use all 5? the plug won't fit so ill have to doctor it if it is ok to use. many thanks

Hi You are correct it should have five wires,
the green and red wire is the neutral switch to neutral light in the clocks, the yellow, pink and green wires are all feeds for the light switch, and the black powers the coil etc. so at best you would not have a neutral light if the red and green wire is missing. none of the other wires you can do without.

Thanks Graham O. so in theory if all wanted to do is get it running, all i would need is the black were connecting? I'm not having much luck with getting a spark.

Yes the black wire goes to the coil to create the spark.
