Newbie Rectifier Wiring problem
Hello all,

this is my first post so please treat me gently.

As part of my midlife crisis that has been ongoing for a few years now, I've recently purchased a 1979 Dax ST70 which is in pretty good nick but has a few strange electrical issues. The neutral light and brake light were not working so I decided to check the rectifier. Trouble is that I've lost the bit of paper where I wrote down the way it was connected. I would be grateful if any one could help me out!

The rectifier seems to be a small square bit of metal that had two wires (one red and one white) connected either side of it. There is a hole in the middle which had a small brass screw through it wish a series of fibre washers and plastic insulated tube.

Please can someone let me know the correct way to reassemble this, the rectifier has writing on one side of it.

thanks in advance

Check out Technical Friday July 8th 2016 for rectifier. Also, if the rectifier is standard Honda. Then simply connect white to white and red to red.

thanks for the replies, I think the rectifier is done as I tested it with a meter and was not getting the results that would be expected. I've got a replacement and have installed it but have now got no electrics at all. The engine starts fine but no lights, brake light etc. Where is the best place to start looking!!

the replacement rectifier had one red wire and one red with white stripe, I took the red/white stripe wire to replace the white one and then red to red.

thanks again

Re: Newbie Rectifier Wiring problem
ok update, got the new rectifier fitted and now have lights and feeble horn again when the engine is running, which is a good thing!

However, turning the light switch either way makes no difference, the lights stay on at all times. When the brakes are applied (front or back) the rear light seems to get a bit dimmer! Also no neutral light too.

Something is not quite right but I'm not quite sure where to start - the head light switch perhaps as this seems to be an important wiring junction.
