6V Battery charger
Hi Guys,

Newbee here. I have just purchased a ST70 for a winter project.

I need some help with the battery charger. The bike has come with a battery which has a 4 pin block connector and I can't find a suitable charger.

Can anyone recommend one please.

Thanks.

Not sure I fully understand your problem. If you mean it has a block connector on the end of the battery wires, can you push a couple of wires (or even nails) into the block so that you can connect to your charger clips?

How old is the battery? If the bike is for restoration, there is a good chance that the battery will need replacing anyway. Most batteries come with just two wires anyway, so you may need to improvise with the connector anyway for it to mate up with the rest of the electrics on the bike.

I have an SL70 which has what sounds like similar fittings. I just chopped the connector off and connected it to the new battery to keep the bike wiring standard. On this, the extra two wires were a link-through from the coil wire to stop the bike being started without a battery and they actually had nothing to do with the battery operation.

Hi Redpen999, The battery on your bike sounds like the same one that is on my bike and I would say that this is probably standard with a four pin block connector and as far as I know the st70 doesn't rely on its battery because my bike will start up happily after being left in my garage all winter.
Here is a picture of the battery that is on my bike to see if it's the same as yours IMG_20161026_180343.JPG

Hi st70

Yes your battery is the same as mine. Do you have a charger for it?

Hi Redpen999, yes I use a battery charger which is called ROADSTER, it is a dual setting type for 12 volt and our 6 volt charge with a high and low setting for each volts and for our batteries a 6 volt low setting which would be like a trickle charge will be fine for a short period to charge the battery up.
You will need a way to conect the red and blue wires from the battery safely to the clips on the charger.
