HI , first question , i connected my fuel tank tried to kick the bike over and noticed fuel peeing out of the overflow pipe !! so i took the carb off cleaned it out undid the drain screw and cleaned that all up , measured the float height which i believe is 30.8mm , is thi measurement from the bottom of the center tube to the ara of the float arm meets the float when i cant blow air through the fuel inlet pipe ? cheers lee.

Hi Lee, the chaly will make a very worthwhile project especially with that lovely history, good luck with the restoration :)

Cheers st70 ,I sorted the overflowing carb the float needle was sticking so onecall it got a bit of fuel around it it freed up ,next problem the engine wasn't drawing fuel up the carb ,put a bit down the inlet and it fired !!!! So stripped and soaked the carb ,blew it through with an airline ,reassemble put it back on and whoo hoo it's running!!! ,next problem is as soon as I engage 1st it launches lol

Hi Lee, it sounds like you are getting on very well with the chaly, I had the same problem with my st70 and what I did was adjust the clutch which is done with an adjusting screw and locknut which is in the centre of the clutch cover on the kick-start side. Loosen the bolt and turn the adjusting screw anti clockwise until pressure can be felt, then turn the screw back clockwise about 1/8 of a turn and then tighten up the locknut without allowing the screw to turn and this sorted mine from jumping when putting into gear, hopefully this may be of some help 8-)

Tried adjusting the clutch, screwed the screw in then back out anticlockwise until i felt slight resistance then back in 1/8th of a turn and still got the same problem , even pulled a wheelie lol , ive read somewhere that you have to apply pressure to the pedal when in first gear to disengage the drive?does anybody know if this is correct? i though the clutch would pull you along as you rev the engine. Many thanks lee.

Hi, I read its to turn in clockwise until resistance , then back back off anticlockwise 1/8 to 1/4 turn, the earlier post I believe the wrong way, IMHO

Tried adjusting the clutch the correct way and its still snatching as soon as i select 1st gear? will i need to replace the clutch plates?could they be stuck together? many thanks lee.
