HELP NEEDED TO FIND ORIGNAL REAR HONDA ST70 SHOCKS
HI THERE I HAVE NEARLY FINISHED RESTORING MY 1975 HONDA ST 70, AND AM IN NEED OF SOME REAR SHOCKS, IF ANYBODY COULD HELP I WOULD BE PLEASED.
I WANT TO KEEP THE BIKE ORIGINAL REALLY SO NEED A SECOND HAND GOOD PAIR THAT I CAN STRIP DOWN AND CLEAN AND FIT MY SPRAYED UP TOP COVERS TO.

MEASUREMENTS CENTRE TO CENTRE OF THE MOUNTING HOLES 335 MM
HOLE SIZE BOTTOM 10 MM
HOLE SIZE TOP 12 MM
PAINTED COVER LENGHT 132 MM

ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY CENTRE STAND LIKE SOMEONE HAS WELDED IT THOUGHT SHOCKS COULD HAVE BEEN WRONG FIRST OF ALL BUT AFTER HAVING CHECKED WITH ANOTHER OWNER THEY SEEM CORRECT FOR THE BIKE AND YEAR, BRINGING IT BACK TO THE STAND NOT REALLY BEEN LONG ENOUGH OR SOMETHING AND HAVING HAD EXTRA BIT WELDED ON THE BOTTOM

There are usually two issues with the centre-stand both of which result in the front & rear wheels touching the ground at the same time, this obviously makes the bike unstable when sitting upright.

The first problem is that people tend to sit on the bike while it is resting on the stand, this bends it thereby reducing its effective length. Apply some heat and straighten it and you may find all is well.
The second problem is just wear between the two faces that touch near the pivot, weld in some additional metal and grind to shape.

Something else I thought I would mention about the center stand. In the US the CT-70 came with 4.00 x 10 tires and as my manual reads the ST-50/70 had 3.50 x 10 tires. It is not much but with the bigger knobbys the center stand is again not tall enough. I am thinking that is possibly one of the reasons we did not have it here. I have 4.00 x 10s on my Dax Export and both tires lightly touch ground. On my prestine machine still has 3.50s and the front tire is clear of the ground by more than a hands thickness. Of course the Grey Goat had some goon weld blanks to the stand feet to give extra clearence. This bike has 4.00s and the stand is bent.

As far as shocks go I would not waste time with used or even NOS. Heck, NOS would be 20 years old, rubber parts just don't last that long. Even springs lose tension over time. It is a replacable item that wears out. Check out:

These are the shocks I got, not perfect but they work.

Kumoh, the difference between 3,5 and 4,0 is only the width of the tyre. (in inches)
(of course, based on the same "surface")
The complete and correct way to write down the measurements of a tyre:
110/90/10
--> 110mm wide
--> 90% of 110mm is the height (99mm)
--> 10" size of the wheel

This can be a real issue regardless of the size & type of tyre fitted.
The stand on my ST70 was so bent & worn that even with worn 3.50x10's it wobbled and was most unstable. Some subtle repairs has clearance under a tyre even wearing new 4.00x10 knoblies.
