Just purchased 1972 st70,good spark,fuel evident,tried cold start procedure,but not even a sign of firing. Any suggestions.

As Blue said, check timing (ignition + cam) and compression.
Did you re-fill the gas tank or are you trying to start the bike on old fuel?
